Southbank's Real Food Market - Jamaican Offerings from Soul Food - Food-Spotter
The Real Food Market located near The Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank is home to food from various parts of the globe. I’ve enjoyed many foods from here, ranging from normal cakes to the slightly more interesting pigs cheek. However, this is not about Pork, (which is my favourite meat).
Soul Food are the only stall that offers Jamaican food in this market. I felt like something with a bit of kick so I thought to myself why not get some jerk chicken and rice (and peas). What followed was not the most memorable of experiences.
The rice was very bland and rather on the plain side for me. It was mainly just going round in my mouth with little or no desire to swallow it down. The chicken was ok at best, the seasoning didn’t really hit me with the flavour I would have hoped for. The only tasty thing about this was the pineapple coleslaw on the side – absolutely lovely! Just a shame there wasn’t enough of it to make the experience as enjoyable.
